BJJ Coach
Ralph is a BJJ Purple belt with over 10 years of experience. He started training in 2009, trying out some no-gi BJJ prior to this.
Speaking of his BJJ coaching philosophy & students, Ralph said:
My advice is to keep your focus on the key fundamentals of BJJ such as base, posture, and maintaining position with pressure. I try to include these concepts in all of my teachings, also keep it playful, there’s no need to try hurt your training partners. Any student attending my class can expect to feel welcome, to have fun, and to look forward to their next class.
His advice for beginners?
Turn up! Seriously! No matter how demotivated you feel on a given day, set yourself a schedule to train and stick to it no matter how tired or demotivated you feel.
And, finally, a little about the part of teaching Ralph enjoys the most:
Kids Competition training is where I see the most developments, so that is definitely the area I enjoy the most. Parents can expect a professional environment where discipline and respect are expected. They can also expect DBS cleared staff, robust safeguarding policies and safe, clean facilities with absolutely fantastic coaches. I’ve coached hundreds of children in BJJ through my youth projects. As a coach and practitioner, I can 100% say that BJJ makes your children better all round, learning to defend themselves and build resilience. I can categorically say that it is one of the best sports available for children.
